TEHRAN (IFILM) -- With a total of 26 cultural heritage monuments inscribed on UNESCO, Iran has turned into one of the leading countries with most sites inscribed on the World Heritage List.
Iran has ranked 9th among countries with the most registered monuments on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has started the inscription of the Iranian sites from 1979 to 2021.
Historical and ancient structures, traditional artifacts, and natural landscapes are parts of cultural assets which are considered tangible cultural heritage.
Prior to the triumph of the Islamic Revolution in 1978, none of the Iranian cultural, historical and natural assets were registered on the World Heritage List.
