Iranian Wrestlers Bag 3 Medals at Int’l Tournament in Turkey

TEHRAN (Dispatches) - Iranian freestyle wrestlers have brought home silver and 2 bronze medals at International Tournament in the Turkish resort city of Antalya. Iranian freestyler Alireza Rekabi grabbed a silver medal and Ali Ashkivar and Abdollah Sheykh Azami received bronze medals in Turkey International Tournament. In the 65kg weight category, Ali Ashkivar defeated Kazakh rival and was overpowered by Azeri wrestler in the second round. In qualifiers match, he hit Kazakh rival and received a bronze medal. Abdollah Sheykh Azami in 79 kg category defeated Turkish rival in the qualifiers match and earned a bronze medal. Meanwhile, after defeating Azeri, Georgian and Turkish athletes, Ali Rekabi advanced to final match. In the final match, he was overpowered by Turkish rival and bagged a silver medal. Earlier, in 70kg weight category, Firouzpour defeated rivals from Turkey in the first round and Kyrgyzstan for the second and third rounds and advanced to the final match. In the final match he overpowered Azeri rival and grabbed a gold medal. Abdollahi, in 92 kg weight category, hit Georgia, Turkey and advanced to final stage. In final match, he defeated Azerbaijan and received a gold medal. The event was held on April 18-21 in Antalya, Turkey.
