Iran’s Right to Possess State-of-the-Art Military Technology

By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer

"Prepare against them whatever you can of [military] power and war-horses, awing thereby the enemy of Allah, and your enemy, and others besides them, whom you do not know, but Allah knows them. And whatever you spend in the way of Allah will be repaid to you in full, and you will not be wronged.” (Holy Qur’an 8:60)
Defence against aggression is in the nature of mankind, and no sane person will ever meekly surrender or prefer to be killed without a fight.
This same humanitarian rule applies to a community, and on a broader scale to the country or the modern state that needs an efficient army and sophisticated means of adequate to ward off any aggression, in view of the satanic tendencies in some of fellow humans who are devoid of faith and inclined towards exploitation of others, occupation of their lands, and plunder of their properties.
This is the reason God Almighty calls on the faithful to be fully prepared all the time with proper defensive equipment in order to ensure peace, stability, and security at home and in the region by thwarting the devilish designs of aggressors.
The Prophets of the past, such as Moses, Solomon, and David, practically showed how to protect their people against the plots of the infidels, and to mete out humanitarian treatment to them when they yield.
The Almighty’s Last and Greatest Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) after years of persecution in Mecca at the hands of the pagan Arabs, had to face armies of these infidels who attacked him and the Muslims when he migrated and took refuge in Medina.
By the Command of the Almighty he had to take up arms to defend the life, faith, dignity, and property of the Muslims during the battles imposed upon him by the pagan Arabs.
Thanks to the valour of his cousin, Imam Ali (AS), he not only successfully warded off the attacks of the Arab and Israelite hordes upon Medina, but by 7 AH, was in the position, by the Command of God, to assemble a force to take the Jewish stronghold of Khaibar in order to save Medina and the Muslims from an imminent assault by the Israelites.
Again the chivalry of Imam Ali (AS) came to the rescue of Islam, followed by the humanitarian behaviour of Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) that made most of the Israelites to accept the truth of Islam.
Fast forward to our era and the need of the Islamic Republic to bolster its defences and equip its armed forces with the most sophisticated armaments, not to attack any country but to defend the sovereignty and independence of Iran, as well as the honour and peace of the Iranian people, against any would be aggressor.
A couple of days ago, Iran marked Army Day with military parades and display of the latest armaments to show its defence prowess and ability to face any danger.
Iran, which in 1980, a year-and-a-half after establishment of the Islamic system of government, was brutally attacked by Saddam of the repressive Ba’th minority regime of Baghdad on the orders of the US, can on no account drop its guard for a single moment.
We remember how almost the whole world had left Iran to the mercy of the brutal aggressor who was supported by all the big and rich powers for eight long years to devastate parts of our country and kill our people with state-of-the-art military hardware supplied by the western and eastern powers.
Because of the Grace of God, the Iranian people led by that Sage of the Age, Imam Khomeini (RA) who used to say "an imposed peace is worse than an imposed war”, defeated the Ba’thist hordes, which are no more today, but the enmity of the satanic US and its devilish minions in the region, including the illegal Zionist entity and macabrely murderous terrorists of all hue and colour, persists today.
Therefore, we should follow the instructions of the Holy Qur’an and the practical precedent set by the Prophet, to be always prepared for defence through constantly upgrading of our armaments in order to order to ensure peace and stability at home and in the region.
"And if they incline toward peace, then you [too] incline toward it, and put your trust in Allah. Indeed He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
"But if they desire to deceive you, Allah is indeed sufficient for you. It is He who strengthened you with His help and with the means of the faithful.” (Holy Qur’an 8:60-61),
