Terrorists Hit Two Oil Wells in Northern Iraq: Reports

KIRKUK (Dispatches) – A group of Daesh terrorists attacked two oil wells northwest of Kirkuk in the northern part of Iraq on Saturday, the country’s oil ministry said in a statement.
The attacks took place at dawn in Bai Hassan oil field in the al-Dibis area northwest of the namesake provincial capital Kirkuk, some 250 km north of Iraq’s capital Baghdad.
The attack "did not cause a fire or damage, affect production, or stop oil pumping from the well”, according to the statement.
The ministry said explosives were used in the attack but did not specify the details.
Iraq’s oil installations and pipelines have been frequently attacked by terrorists despite the improvement of the security situation in the country since the government declared the full defeat of Daesh throughout the country in 2017.
Remnants of the terrorist group have, however, since melted in deserts and rugged areas, carrying out frequent attacks against security forces and civilians.
Meanwhile, an Iraqi court in Nineveh on Friday confiscated $1.6 million and gold bars from Daesh, Anadolu Agency reported.
"$1.6 million, gold and silver coins and gold bars were found in the Old City of Mosul while carrying out works to remove the rubble of the destroyed houses,” the Nineveh Court confirmed.
"The funds and the mentioned materials were hidden in plastic barrels and buried at a depth of three meters underground. Daesh was using the money to finance its terrorist operations,” the court revealed.
In June 2014, Daesh captured the Mosul, Salahuddin and Anbar provinces and parts of Diyala and Kirkuk, which were recaptured by Iraqi forces in late 2017.
