Report: U.S., Zionist Regime Fear Possible Hamas Victory in Elections

WEST BANK (Dispatches) – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Zionist counterpart Gabi Ashkenazi have shared concerns in a phone call about Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas’s potential victory in the upcoming parliamentary election, RT reported.
In a report issued by the Israeli Walla news website, RT disclosed that Ashkenazi voiced the regime’s worries to Blinken about the possible victory of Hamas due to the fragmentation of its rival movement, Fatah.
Both Zionist regime and U.S. officials confirmed that they would prefer if the Palestinians postponed the elections, Israeli sources told Walla.
In January, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced the 2021 elections would include presidential vote on July 31 and the National Council elections slated for August 31.
The Palestinian leadership has been divided between Fatah and Hamas since 2006. Back then, Hamas scored a landslide victory in parliamentary elections in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Hamas has ever since been running the densely-populated coastal enclave, while Fatah has been based in the autonomous parts of the occupied West Bank.
