Iraq at the Crossroads

By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer

Mesopotamia, or Iraq as it is known today, was the cradle of civilization, where according to antiquaries the art of writing first emerged and the technology to fashion the wheel led to invention of the horse and ox driven carts that accelerated both human travel and the transport of goods.
Well that was the remote past. Today, the people of this ancient land, which Islamic texts say, is destined for the brightest future as the centre of the global government of the awaited Saviour of mankind, are struggling to find their identity.
The Godless Ba’thists and the dictators that preceded them following Iraq’s emergence for the first time in 1920 as a politically sovereign state under British domination over two millenniums since the fall of Babylon, ruined the life of the Iraqi people, who for centuries had resisted the tyranny of the Abbasid caliphate, the savagery of the Mongols, and the repression of the Ottomans, only to fall victim in 2003 to a new breed of occupiers, the Americans.
The faith of Iraqi Muslims, however, is firmly based on the dynamic teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt or the Blessed Household of Prophet Muhammad (SAWA). This inspires them to confront the plots of the US, the behind-the-scenes conspiracies of the Zionists (as part of the nefarious plot to extend illegal Israel from the River Nile to the River Euphrates), and the sedition of the Saudis to divide and conquer them through the promise of a few billion dollars after having failed to turn Iraq into Takfiristan through the most macabrely murderous terrorists.
Washington is naïve if it thinks that it can prolong its military occupation of Iraq through the ruse of fruitless talks with the current interim government by forcing it to enter into unnatural ties with one of the avowed enemies of the Iraqi Muslim people, that is, the cultish Wahhabi regime of Riyadh.
The Muslims of Mesopotamia know the pitfalls of allowing the Saudis to sneak into their homeland on the pretext of trade, investment, and culture, accompanied by distribution of seditious Salafi literature to weaken the faith of the Iraqis in Islam – as recently discovered in parts of southern Iraq where pamphlets and booklets against the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt have been seized.
The religious leadership of the Iraqi people has become well aware of this nefarious plot and is determined to protect the faith of the Iraqi people.
At the same time, the masses and the conscientious politicians firmly believe that these plots against Iraq and the Iraqi people will end only with the end of the US occupation of Iraq.
For this reason, the popular mobilization units have stepped up their campaign to show the exit door to the Americans, whose presence is not at all required in Iraq, whether as military trainers or diplomats.
In the view of the masses, the Americans are terrorists whose hands are dipped in the innocent blood of the Iraqi people, such as Abu Mahdi Muhandis, who was most cowardly killed by the US at Baghdad international airport on 3rd January 2020 along with Iran’s anti-terrorist icon, General Qassim Soleimani.
The vengeance vowed for the martyrs tops all issues in Iraq, and if the Americans do not leave, they are in for a rude surprise that will result in the most disgraceful exit for them.
