Much Ado About Nothing

By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Organization (IAEA) who is vising Tehran was given a rousing welcome by the Majlis on Sunday as 226 parliamentarians in their statement reiterated stopping from Tuesday February 22 onwards the voluntary implementation of the Additional Protocol to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), if the US continues its policy of economic terrorism against the Islamic Republic.
Italy’s Rafael Grossi of the Vienna-based IAEA, in his talks with Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), was apprised of full adherence to the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA) despite the breaching of the said accord by the US and the European troika, including Tehran’s decision to reduce its cooperation as per article 37 of the agreement signed in Geneva in 2015.
Grossi who very well knows that his Agency has over the past years verified the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear projects on more than 15 occasions, understands that there is nothing suspicious in the Islamic Republic, which has every right to adjust its uranium enrichment policies in line with its industrial needs, and the only problem is the lawlessness of the world’s most dangerously nuclear-armed power, the US – with a criminal record of bombing the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
This means the issue of Iran’s peaceful nuclear project is nothing but politicized.
Tehran, however, has continued to demonstrate its resistance against undue pressures since there is nothing to hide, or talk, about JCPOA, with either the US or the EU troika of Germany, France, and Britain, who themselves are the violators of the nuclear accord.
In other words, it is much ado about nothing, and if the violators continue their thuggish policies, Iran has no choice but to take appropriate measures within the framework of JCPOA, in order to develop its industries and defend its sovereignty and independence.
Iran doesn’t need verification every day, week, month, or year, from either the UN or any big power regarding its inalienable right to pursue its peaceful projects.
It is the enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran who have accumulated doomsday nuclear weapons, and are not bound by any NPT or IAEA safeguards, including proliferation of atomic weapons, as is clear by the West’s arming of the illegal Zionist entity with these armaments.
Iran also needs not repeat every time that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has ruled out the manufacture of WMDs (nuclear, biological, and chemical), since the "fatwa” (religious edict) clearly says that it is "haraam” or religiously prohibited to produce such weapons or carry out mass massacres of mankind.
Would the UN, or the IAEA point out which nuclear capable or nuclear armed country has given such concrete assurances and safeguards regarding its nuclear projects?
Then why the fuss about Iran which is strictly using its nuclear knowledge for upgrading its industries, while there are countries in the world which have not signed the NPT and pursue with gay abandon the experiments to produce more lethal nuclear armaments than what they have already stacked in their arsenals?
To sum up, the US and other violators are mistaken if they think that by refusing to honour their commitments to the JCPOA and by continuing their policy of economic terrorism, they can force the Islamic Republic into unwarranted talks on irrelevant issues.
