Iranians Win Six More Medals at World Para Athletics Grand Prix

DUBAI (Dispatches) – Iranian competitors won six more medal at the 2021 World Para Athletics Grand Prix on Thursday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Mahdi Olad and Behzad Azizi won two gold medals on Day 2 at Men’s Shot Put F11 and Men’s Javelin, respectively.
Olad seized the gold after managing a 13.89 meters throw.
Russian and Uzbek throwers won silver and bronze medals with 12.57 and 12.24 meters, respectively.
Azizi also claimed a gold at the javelin F12/13 with 64.37 meters throw. Lithuanian thrower won silver with 48.45 meters and Iran’s Masoud Heydari took the bronze with 44.30 meters.
Iran’s Vahid Ali-Najimi snatched a bronze at the Men’s 400m after clocking 50.41 seconds. Algerian participant won the gold medal with 47.91 seconds and Turkish runner snatched the silver with 49.53 seconds.
Hamed Amiri won a silver medal at the Men’s Discus F54/55. Indian and Russian throwers won gold and bronze medals, respectively.
And Alireza Sadehian won Iran’s sixth medal on Day 2. He took a silver at the Men’s 100m T38 with a time of 11.66 seconds. French and Thailand representatives finished first and third, respectively.
On Wednesday, Iranian Para athletes won three medals.
Hamed Amiri seized a gold medal at the Men’s Javelin Throw F53/54 with a throw of 30.96 meters.
Para athletes from Greece and Slovakia finished in second and third place, respectively.
Saman Pakbaz claimed a silver medal at the Men’s Shot Put - F12 with a throw of 14.96 meters.
Uzbekistan’s thrower came first with 15.92 meters and Belarus athlete won bronze with 13.22 meters.
Vahid Ali-Najimi also seized a bronze medal at the Men’s 100 Meters T/F12 with a time of 11.14 seconds.
Algerian sprinter won the gold with 10.61 seconds and Uzbekistan’s athlete came second, clocking 11.09.
Some 471 Para athletes from 52 countries are confirmed for the four-day competition at the Dubai Club for People of Determination, part of the UAE’s Fazza International Athletics Championships.
