Follies of the French Regimes

By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer

It seems not something, but everything is amiss in the corridors of power in Paris as the regime of President Emmanuel Macron stumbles from one absurdity to another.
First it was the insult to Islamic sanctities by the French president who openly supported the blasphemous bid by some French publications to attribute a series of caricatures to the Messenger of Mercy, Prophet Muhammad (SAWA), whose radiant figure is far above the machinations of devilish elements.
Though he got a thorough spanking from not only the Muslim world but from conscientious non-Muslims, he next flew into Beirut thinking that Lebanon is still a French colony, and gave an ultimatum for setting up a pro-Paris cabinet of ministers against the national will and religious aspirations of the Lebanese people.
Macron was ridiculed and booed by the various political and religious groups that make up Lebanon, including the Christian Arab Maronites who speak French as a second language – the legacy of a dark past between the two world wars.
If this bashing was not enough, the regime in Paris which is beset with various protests at home, ranging from the Yellow Vests for social justice to charges of racism by migrants and minorities, failed to learn from its blunders.
This time Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, in a bid to match Macron in his blunders, accused the Islamic Republic of building a nuclear weapons project.
He was swiftly rapped by his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, who called such accusation "absurd nonsense”, by taking to twitter to directly deliver his message that reads:
"Dear colleague: You kick-started your cabinet career with arms sales to the Saudi war criminals. Avoid absurd nonsense about Iran. Reality check: YOU are destabilizing OUR region. Stop protecting criminals who chainsaw their critics and use YOUR arms to slaughter children in Yemen.”
Macron’s regime is under fire from several countries as well as rights groups at home over its support of Saudi Arabia’s state terrorism and allowing weapons it has sold to Riyadh to be used in its war in Yemen on civilians as well.
And now the French foreign ministry has released another absurd statement which ignores the supply of lethal arms to the Wahhabi regime in Riyadh for destruction of the infrastructure in Yemen and the slaughter of innocent men, women, and children of that country.
It reads: "France reaffirms its total solidarity with Saudi Arabia, which it marked in September 2019 by making air defense assets available to that country. France strongly condemns the latest air attack on Riyadh on January 26. Coming after similar attacks on January 23, and this illustrates the seriousness of the threat that the proliferation of missiles and drones poses to the entire region and the need to deal with this threat, starting by identifying the perpetrators.”
Nonsensical indeed, in view of the fact that the real culprits fanning the flames of the Saudi-UEA war in Yemen are the Americans, followed by the British and the French.
If not for the military support of the West, Saudi Arabia would not have been able to commit war crimes in Yemen, or for that matter object to the right of retaliation of the defenders of Yemen against those who almost daily bomb that country with sophisticated weapons supplied by France and its accomplices.
If it is in its right mind, why doesn’t Paris affirm solidarity with the oppressed people of Yemen, instead of their aggressors, and does France think that it can fool the world with its folly after folly?
