Official: Largest Trade Port to Be Built in Southern Iran

TEHRAN (Dispatches) - Deputy Road Minister and Managing Director of Iran’s Port and Maritime Organization (PMO) Muhammad Rastad said on Wednesday that the country’s largest trade port will be constructed around Jask, Hormozgan province, south of Iran.
Rastad made the remarks after visiting two ports of Kouh-e Mobarak and Jask in Eastern Hormozgan province and stressed that the development of Jask County is very important and strategic for the country.
With the cooperation the oil ministry, the PMO has started the feasibility studies of the project,” he added.
Rastad pointed to the significance of maritime trade and transport in the East of Hormuz Strait, adding, "In addition to Chabahar Port, we have decided to receive oceangoing vessels in Eastern Hormuz Strait; thus Jask County has been taken into consideration.”
