IRGC Chief General Salami:

Results of Martyr Soleimani Initiative ‘Miraculous’

TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps said Sunday a door-to-door screening campaign carried out by IRGC and Basij forces has miraculously helped reduce the coronavirus death toll in Iran.
Major General Hussein Salami said the program, dubbed Martyr Soleimani initiative, has produced miraculous results within a short period and slashed the daily coronavirus deaths to below 100.
The commander said the decline in the fatalities should not lead to any complacency with regard to observing health protocols.
Nearly 1,165,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection or have been discharged from hospital in Iran.
On Sunday, Health Ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari reported 89 new deaths over the past 24 hours, taking the overall toll to 57,383.
As many 5,945 new cases were detected in the period, which raised total infections to 1,372,900.
The number of new COVID-19 cases, hospital admissions and deaths in Iran has declined constantly in recent weeks, while Iranian scientists have begun the human trial phase of a homegrown vaccine, which the health minister says outperforms many vaccines developed by other countries.
