Animation ‘Haboob’ Great Success at Jordanian Festival

TEHRAN (IFILM) -- The 11th Karama Human Rights Film Festival in Jordan has awarded Iranian short animation ‘Haboob’.
Directed by Mahsa Samani and produced by Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), the 9-minute flick received the award for best short animation at the Jordanian event.
‘Haboob’ tells the story of a man and his daughter, who are accustomed to living in harmony and peace with nature, but some disruptions change their lovely little life.
Born in 1987, Samani started her artistic journey in drawing and motion graphics design. She directed the animated movie ‘Dust Man’ which was awarded by nationwide and international festivals. ‘Haboob’ is her second experience in animated short movies.
The Jordanian event also honored Iranian short flick ‘Gabriel’, presenting it the best short narrative film award.
The Karama Feather Award for best documentary was presented to ‘The Art of Dissent’ directed by James Dean Le Sueur from the U.S.
‘All This Victory’, a co-production from Lebanon, France and Qatar directed by Ahmad Ghossein, won the Karama Feather Award for best fiction.
The Anhar Film Award went to ‘200 Meters’ and the Karama Feather Award for best audience choice was presented to ‘As You Can See’ by Egyptian director Ghada Fikri.
The main theme for the Karama Film Festival is human rights in general; children, women, refugees, political, economic, social and civic rights, and the role of films and culture in creating social and political change.
The latest edition of the fest was held on December 10-17, 2020.
