Persian Miniature Registered Globally as Intangible Heritage

TEHRAN (IFILM) --  Persian art of miniature has won the votes of the UNESCO Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee and was Inscribed in 2020 on the representative list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
In the 15th meeting of the UNESCO Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee, the Iranian art of miniature painting was jointly examined by Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan and registered globally on Wednesday as the fifteenth intangible heritage of Iran in the UNESCO World Heritage List by the majority of votes and without opposition.
"The registration of a particular art for a country will highlight the position of the ancestors of the people of that country and will create a kind of emotional reaction to the cultural and artistic heritage,” said Iran’s Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicraft Mohammad Hassan Talebian on the sideline of the meeting.
Iran’s minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Ali Asghar Mounesan in a message on Wednesday also congratulated the Iranian nation and artists on the registration of miniature as the country’s 15th global intangible cultural heritage.
The 15th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage kicked off online in Jamaica on December 14 and will continue until December 19.
