8-Month Exports From Gilan Rise 36%


TEHRAN (Dispatches) - Head of Gilan’s Trade Promotion Organization, Farhad Dalqpoosh  has said that Gilan province has exported over 637,558 tons of goods worth $394 million during the 8-month period of the current Iranian year (ended on November 20), a customs official in the province said.
Dalqpoosh said that the figures show 36% and 51% hike in terms of volume and value respectively in comparison with the same period in last year.
Gilan’s exports mainly consisted of vegetable, fruits, minerals, and plastic products, which were shipped to Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Afghanistan and Iraq.
According to Dalqpoosh, the imports amounted to 133,017 tons worth nearly $580 million during the eight-month period.
He noted that the figures show 44% and 1% rise in tonnage and value respectively year-on-year, adding that cereal, animal food, meat, oil, soy and pulp were the main products imported to Gilan in the period.
He noted that Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Azerbaijan, the UAE, Ukraine, Turkey and Ecuador were the top exporters to the province.
