President Rouhani: Situation Will Improve

TEHRAN (Dispatches) – President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday said he believes Iran’s overall situation will improve, but that does not mean his administration is looking for negotiations with the United States.
Rouhani has come under criticism from many sides for counting too much on nuclear negotiations which led to an agreement but President Donald Trump withdrew the U.S. from it in 2018, unleashing the most draconian sanctions ever against the Islamic Republic.
"When we say the situation will improve, some may think that we mean negotiations with the US. No, that’s not true,” the president told a cabinet session.
Still, Rouhani said he expected the new U.S. administration would respect the accord and that he believed the atmosphere of threats created by the rogue Trump administration of would shift into a climate of opportunities.
Rouhani touched on Iran’s diplomatic and legal victories against the United States in international arenas, saying Washington’s economic plots to create famine in Iran and undermine security with through sanctions have also ended in failure.
The new U.S. administration, he said, has no option but to return to the legal path and surrender to the Iranian nation.
"Everyone among Democrats and Republicans has realized that the United States’ maximum pressure on Iran has failed,” the president said.
U.S. President-elect Joe Biden has promised to return to the nuclear deal but has said he will seek to put pressure on Iran’s regional activities and missile programs, among other things.
