TEHRAN (IFP) -- A senior Iranian official says the Russia-brokered peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia was in keeping with Iran’s initiative.
Abbas Araqchi, the Iranian deputy foreign minister for political affairs, said Tehran’s proposals contributed heavily to the establishment of the ceasefire. "Fortunately, the principles and framework that we introduced for a ceasefire and the start of the talks were welcomed, and the Russia-brokered agreement that was finally reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia two days ago, was, in fact, within the framework of the principles and framework and proposals that Iran had put forward,” he said.
