TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- Iranian vocalist Muhammadreza Shajarian was transferred to the northeastern Iranian town of Tus on Friday to be buried at the mausoleum of Persian poet Ferdowsi on Saturday.
He died at Tehran’s Jam Hospital on Thursday at the age of 80 after years of suffering from kidney cancer. Artists, politicians and other figures offered messages of condolences. "The passing of the famous Iranian singer and artist Muhammadreza Shajarian caused a great deal of grief and sorrow,” President Hassan Rouhani said.
