Best Short Film Award Granted to ‘Slaughter’ in Italy

TEHRAN (IFILM) -- Iranian short film ‘Slaughter’ has been awarded at the 2020 Mareta Film Festival in Italy.
The Best Short Film Award of the Italian event’s first edition has been bestowed upon ‘Slaughter’ social flick, co-directed by Ako Zand-Karimi and Saman Hosseinpour.  
The two filmmakers have also been given a 2000 cash prize as a grant for their next projects.
‘Slaughter’ is the story of a small village family whose life depends on their one and only cow.
They are in fact very fond of the animal; however, it must be sold to help the family live through a rough winter. The family’s son, saddened by this decision, lets the cow escape.
The short film has already been screened at various global events, including the Int’l Student Film and Video Festival in China, the Early Bird Int’l Student Film Festival in Bulgaria and the Film Fest Sundsvall in Sweden.
The film has been awarded at various film events such as the Best Short Film at the Int’l Independent Filmfest-Publicystyka in Poland, the Best Screenplay in Parma Music Filmfest in Italy and the Best Short Filmfest at the Villmmare Filmfest in Italy.
The first edition of the Mareta Film Festival was held on September 24-26, 2020.
