VP: Iran-Russia Technological Cooperation on Right Track

TEHRAN (Dispatches) - Iran’s Vice President for Science and Technology Sourena Sattari in a video conference with the head of Russian Academy of Sciences Aleksandr Sergeyev, has said that grounds are ready for promoting scientific and technological cooperation, specially in area of advanced pharmaceutical technologies.
"The two countries have extensive and deep relations in the field of diplomacy, and it is necessary to achieve this level of relations in the field of science and technology as well,” Sattari said.
 Referring to the ability of Iranian knowledge-based companies and research institutes in the field of drug and vaccine production, Sattari noted: "Considering the outbreak of COVID-19, Tehran is ready to cooperate with Moscow in important and significant projects to deal with the pandemic.”
The president of the Russian Academy of Sciences expressed that Russian scientific institutes are ready for scientific cooperation with Iran.
He noted that Iran and Russia can cooperate in various fields, including biotechnology, minerals, and ecology of the Caspian Sea, as well as medicine, infectious diseases, and other technological fields.
He added that Russia as an ancient neighbor has numerous capacities for scientific and technological cooperation.
Sergeyev, for his part, voiced Russian academy’s readiness for cooperation with Iran’s Presidential Scientific and Technological Department.
"The level of scientific relations is not as high as political ties and we should try to increase this cooperation” Sergeyev added.
The Russian official also called for sharing scientific experience and capabilities by the two countries.
