Award-Winning Documentary Movie Wins Big at Russian Festival
TEHRAN (IFILM) -- Acclaimed Iranian documentary movie ‘Asho’ has been awarded at the 16th edition of the Sevastopol International Festival of Documentary Films and TV Programs "Won Together” in Russia.
Written and directed by Jafar Najafi, the short doc that screened at the festival’s Reflection program of the International Documentary Film Competition has been picked as the recipient of the Best Short Film award.
According to the official website of the festival, the Reflection program is dedicated to, "documentaries on contemporary issues- the reflection of nowadays, international and personal agenda, best people, human choices and deed, overcoming, beneficence etc”.
‘Asho’ focuses on the story of a very young peasant boy whose world does not get limited by his surroundings. He, who has to spend days and nights with his herd and work for a living, has a huge passion for filmmaking and cinema.
The short has already been showcased at a number of international film events and won awards, including a special mention at the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film - DOK Leipzig in Germany.
The Won Together film event holds annually in the city of Sevastopol, Republic of Crimea, Russia.
This year’s edition of the fest was held on August 27-September 5.
