Hamas Reaches Deal to End Zionist Regime’s Aggression
GAZA STRIP (Dispatches) – The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has announced that it has reached a deal to end the Zionist regime’s escalation of violence along the Gaza fence.
Hamas has reached an understanding with the occupying regime "to contain the escalation and stop the Zionist aggression against our people,” the office of Yahya Sinwar, Hamas chief in the Gaza Strip, said in an official press statement.
"We reached an understanding after a round of dialogues and contacts, the latest of which was done by the Qatari Ambassador Mohammed Al-Emadi,” it said.
The understanding, it added, would ease the way for implementation of projects "that will serve the people of Gaza, and alleviate the suffering amid the coronavirus wave.”
The statement also said that the deal includes "the return of the situation to what it was before the escalation,” referring to the recent escalation that started on Aug. 6.
The Zionist regime has bombed Gaza almost daily since August 6 in what it says is a response to the airborne incendiary devices and rockets launched from the blockaded coastal sliver into the occupied lands.
It also tightened the blockade, banned Palestinian fishermen from going to sea, and closed a key crossing with the territory, prompting the closure of Gaza’s sole power plant for want of fuel.
The Zionist regime on Tuesday eased some restrictions imposed on the Gaza Strip three weeks ago, following the Qatar-brokered cease-fire, Palestinian sources said.
In Gaza, Palestinian security sources said that the regime reopened the commercial crossing of Kerem Shalom to allow shipment of fuel and other essential goods into the enclave.
The sources said that the regime allowed scores of trucks loaded with goods and fuel tankers to enter through the crossing and ship their loads into Gaza after closing the crossing for 20 days.
