Iraqi Parl’t Coalition Asks for Sanctions Against UAE
BAGHDAD (Dispatches) – Al-Fatah Coalition, one of the main Shia parties in the Iraqi parliament, has strongly condemned the recent normalization deal between Abu Dhabi and the Zionist regime, and called for embargos against UAE officials.
"We ask all Arab and Islamic nations and countries to sanction the UAE rulers and all those who extend their filthy hands towards the Zionist occupiers,” al-Fatah said in a statement on Saturday.
It condemned any normalization of ties with the Zionist regime, warning that the move means recognition of the criminal regime.
The statement reminded of the massacre of Palestinians and occupation of their lands by the regime in the past 70 years, saying that shaking hands with the Zionists means recognition of all their crimes.
U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday announced a deal brokered by his government between the occupying regime and the UAE which he said would lead to full normalization of ties between the two.
The UAE was the first Persian Gulf Arab state and the third Arab nation - after Egypt and Jordan - to announce active ties with the regime on Thursday.
Most Arab and Muslim nations have historically refrained from maintaining formal diplomatic relations with the regime in protest against its occupation of Palestine.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he is considering breaking off all diplomatic ties with the UAE after the deal.
Turkey said history and the collective conscience of people in the Middle East will not forget and never forgive the "hypocritical behavior” of the UAE in agreeing to normalize ties with the occupying regime.
The Turkish foreign ministry said on Friday the Palestinian people and administration were right to react strongly against the deal.
"The UAE, which is pursuing secret ambitions over a U.S. plan that is stillborn, null and void, ignores the willpower of Palestine,” said a ministry statement.
Meanwhile, leader of Iraq’s Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq resistance movement, affiliated with the Hashd al-Sha’abi popular movement, Qais Khazali condemned the recent deal, warning that the resistance front will not allow implementation of plots to normalize relations with the regime.
"The resistance pivot rejects any normalization of ties with the Quds occupying regime and we will bring to a failure any plot to normalize ties between the Zionists and those who have become similar to them,” Khazali was quoted by the Arabic-language al-Mayadeen news channel as saying on Saturday.
He said the UAE move was an "act of betrayal” and means that its rulers are no more considered Arabs.
Khazali also blasted Saudi Arabia for paving the ground for ties with the Zionists.
