Hamas: Zionist Regime’s Airstrikes on Gaza ‘Escalation’

GAZA STRIP (Dispatches) – The Islamic resistance movement Hamas on Monday condemned the Zionist regime’s overnight airstrikes on Gaza Strip as an "assault and a message of escalation.”
"The strikes are aimed at exporting Israel’s internal crises and distracting the public’s attention towards the people in the Gaza Strip amid Israeli internal political complications,” said Hamas Spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum in a press statement.
"The Palestinian resistance is well aware of the occupation’s schemes and knows how to deal with it, and will not allow Gaza to be its backyard,” the statement added.
Barhoum warned that the Gaza based resistance groups will "address the enemy in accordance with its vision.”
The Zionist regime’s warplanes launched new airstrikes against the positions of the Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas in the central parts of the besieged Gaza strip.
The attacks have targeted west of Deir al-Balah city, a report by RT Arabic said.
A military base belonging to Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has also been hit by three rockets fired from the Zionist regime’s warplanes, Israeli media claim.
The sound of several explosions has also been heard from east of Khan Yunis in the south of Gaza Strip, RT reported.
The attacks came shortly after the occupying regime’s military claimed its iron dome system has intercepted a rocket fired from the besieged enclave towards the occupied territories.
Gaza has been under siege by the occupying regime since June 2007, which has caused a decline in living standards.
The Zionist regime has also launched three major wars against the enclave since 2008, killing thousands of Gazans each time and shattering the impoverished territory’s already poor infrastructure.
The crippling blockade has caused a decline in the standard of living as well as unprecedented levels of unemployment and unrelenting poverty in the Gaza Strip.
