Ansarullah’s Missile Strikes on Tel Aviv Likely: Paper
SANA’A (Dispatches) – A leading Arab newspaper has stressed the importance of recent threats by Yemen to launch retaliatory attacks on different targets in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the Israeli-occupied territories, noting that Ansarullah’s attack on Tel Aviv is possible.
The Arabic-language al-Ray al-Youm newspaper underlined that the recent comments by Yemeni official General Abdullah Yahya al-Hakim to attack targets in Saudi Arabia are not nothing new but his threats to target Tel Aviv are even more important.
"Ansarullah is moving along the same path already taken by the Lebanese Hezbollah and it materializes most of its threats,” it added.
The Arab paper noted that Yemen’s offensives against the occupying regime could come through air raids on the Port of Eilat on the Red Sea as Yemeni missiles and drones can now reach the Saudi port of Yanba’a whose distance from Eilat is less than tens of kilometers.
A second possibility is targeting the Israeli ships at the entrance of Bab al-Mandab by using marine missiles or speed boats, it added.
General Abdullah Yahya al-Hakim had warned earlier this week that "the Yemeni Armed Forces are in possession of extensive intelligence on a large number of vital and key points in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Tel Aviv and farther areas”.
Also, on Tuesday, head of the Ansarullah movement’s negotiating team Mohammad Abdul-Salam warned the Saudi officials that they should wait for more missile and drone attacks against the country’s key positions.
In the latest developments, Saudi-led military aircraft have carried out fresh deadly strikes in Yemen, this time targeting a residential area in the northern province of al-Jawaf, as part of the Riyadh regime’s ongoing aerial bombardment campaign against its crisis-hit southern neighbor.
Local sources told Yemen’s Arabic-language al-Masirah television network that the fighter jets struck two houses in al-Masafa al-Marazeeq area of the al-Hazm district on Wednesday afternoon, leaving nine civilians, including two women and a boy, dead.
Seven other people, including 5 children and two women, sustained injuries.
Earlier in the day, Saudi-led warplanes launched five airstrikes against al-Aqsha’ area in the same district of Jawf province. There were, however, no immediate reports of possible casualties.
Separately, fighter jets pounded an area in the Kitaf wa al-Boqe’e district of the mountainous northwestern province of Sa’ada. The number of casualties was not immediately known.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has been conducting a bloody military aggression in Yemen with help from its regional allies, and using arms supplied by its Western backers. The aim of the war has been to bring Yemen’s former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, back to power and defeat the Houthi Ansarullah movement.
Yemeni armed forces have been boosting their military capabilities and responding to the attacks using domestic missiles and drones, and targeting sensitive oil installations and military sites deep inside the Saudi territory.
Over 100,000 people have already lost their lives as a result of the military aggression in the past five years.
The war has also destroyed, damaged and shut down Yemen’s infrastructure, including a large number of hospitals and clinics.
