Kuwait-Genaveh Container Shipping Line Launched: Official

TEHRAN (Dispatches) – Head of Genaveh Ports and Maritime Department Davood Bahadori on Wednesday announced the launch of Genaveh-Kuwait container shipping line.
A refrigerated container shipping line between Islamic Republic of Iran and Kuwait started its activity with forwarding the first shipment of agricultural food products via this port.
He added: "The first consignment of this shipping line, as weigh as 160 tons including various types of food products, fresh fruits and vegetables, was loaded by Landing Craft "Arabakhtar” and exported to the destination country within the framework of eight refrigerated containers.”
This ship has the capacity of transporting eight refrigerated containers, with a total capacity of 497 tons, which is active in the field of export of agricultural and livestock products, he highlighted.
Considering the policies adopted in the field of activity of all affiliated ports and use of facilities and infrastructures created in them, necessary planning was made for launching a containerized line between Genaveh Port and Kuwait, Bahadori added.
Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian previously informed that the third section of the Khaf-Herat railway project which connects the rail networks of Iran and Afghanistan will come on stream in the third quarter of the current Iranian calendar year (September 22-December 20).
Khaf-Herat is part of the Iran-Afghanistan rail corridor. The project started in the fiscal year of 2007-2008, connects Iran’s eastern city of Khaf to Afghanistan’s western city of Ghoryan.
The 132-km project is divided into three major sections, 77 kilometers of which is inside Iranian territory and 62 kilometers is in Afghanistan territory.
