Ministry: Europe Providing Shelter, U.S. Funding MKO
TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- Iran’s Foreign Ministry has blasted the U.S. and Europe for harboring MKO terrorists, saying Washington has long been using the American taxpayer money to fund the cult’s atrocities.
"MEK is, by all means, a terror cult. Europe is home to this rogue entity & American taxpayers’ money has funded the atrocities of this corrupt grouplet. Both have hands in the massacre of innocent Iranians by MEK,” the ministry tweeted late Sunday.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi hit out Western countries for unrestrained support for the terrorist group, saying MKO supporters have the blood of thousands of Iranians on their hands.
The condemnation came as Iran marked the 39th anniversary of a deadly attack by MKO terrorists in 1981, which martyred scores of top Iranian officials, including judiciary head of Council Ayatollah Muhammad Beheshti.
The MKO has carried out numerous terrorist attacks against Iranian civilians and government officials since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979.
As part of their enmity with the Islamic Republic, Washington and the European Union have removed the MKO from their lists of terrorist organizations. MKO terrorists freely travel and live in the U.S. and Europe, where they often bribe top politicians to promote the group.
