Zionist Settlers Attack Palestinian Farmers in Jordan Valley

WEST BANK (Dispatches) – While Palestinians are busy fighting the outbreak of the coronavirus, Zionist settlers have increased their attacks in the occupied Jordan Valley, Al Mugtama Magazine has reported.
The armed settlers carried out a wide-scale campaign of attacks on the Palestinian herders and farmers. They stole scores of animals and damaged wide swathes of farmlands.
"The situation in the Jordan Valley is very difficult,” Mahmoud Bsharat, who has received an expropriation order for his farm, told the magazine.
He said that the "gangs of settlers” cut trees and steal cattle, as well as opening fire at the Palestinian shepherds. They also steal tractors from Palestinian farmers and damage their farms.
Activist Aref Daraghmeh told the magazine that Zionist settlers carried out 45 attacks over the past few days in the Jordan Valley, noting that they stole farming equipment in addition to damaging farms and homes.
He also said that the occupying regime imposed high fines on Palestinians and has been carrying out military drills that damage their crops.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Sunday condemned an upsurge in Zionist settler attacks against Palestinian land and property across the occupied West Bank.
"The rise in settlement organizations’ attacks against Palestinians is a direct result of the encouragement they receive from the political leadership in Israel,” the ministry said in a statement.
The statement added, "Israel seeks to intimidate Palestinians and prevent them from reaching their targeted lands,” pointing to the Israeli regime’s attempts to seize and annex Palestinian lands to expand its settlements.
The ministry called on the international community to condemn the crimes being perpetrated by Zionist settlers and troops, and compel the Tel Aviv regime to obey the relevant UN resolutions, especially Resolution 2334.
