FM Zarif Calls Trump’s Bluff on Terrorism, Syria Oil

TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- Iran’s Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday denounced President Donald Trump’s recent claims to global anti-terror efforts, saying the U.S. president is the assassin of General Qassem Soleimani who was the Daesh terror group’s "number one enemy”.
Zarif has underscored a confession by Trump that the Islamic Republic hates Daesh and that U.S. troops are in Syria to seize the Arab country’s oil resources.
The minister posted a video clip that showed Trump announcing that U.S. troops would leave after they "have taken the oil” in Syria.
Last October, after ordering the withdrawal of American forces from Syria, Trump said he wanted the U.S. firm ExxonMobil to go to the Arab country to tap its oil.
"@realdonaldtrump just admitted what we all knew: US troops in Syria to ‘have the oil’. Also, that Russia, Syria, & Iran can fight ISIS, confessing, ‘Iran hates ISIS’. But not only did US NOT fight ISIS, it cowardly murdered its #1 enemy—with ONLY Trump cronies & ISIS celebrating,” Zarif tweeted.
Gen.  Soleimani was assassinated in a U.S. drone attack along Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), and their companions outside Baghdad airport on January 3.
Denouncing the assassination, Zarif censured Washington’s alleged anti-terror efforts, saying the U.S. "cowardly murdered” Daesh’s number-one enemy instead of fighting the Takfiri group.
