TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- Canada’s complaint about a Ukrainian passenger plane that was mistakenly shot down by Iran’s armed forces in January has no legal basis, Iranian Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif said on Tuesday.
"Iran’s actions are based on international rules,” Zarif said. Canadian lawyers are seeking class action status in a lawsuit, looking for at least C$1.5 billion ($1.1 billion) in compensation in a country which has become a haven for corrupt money, including $2.6 billion taken by former banker Mahmoud Reza Khavari.
