Gen. Soleimani’s Martyrdom, Public Turnout Signs of Iran’s Grandeur, Credibility

TEHRAN (Dispatches) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says recent events in the wake of the U.S. assassination of a top Iranian commander and the public turnout for his funeral procession herald a unique event which is set to determine the path of history.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a message to the 54th meeting of the Union of Islamic Students’ Associations in Europe, read out in Vienna on Saturday.
"This year, your meeting is held in the midst of important events, each of which in a way is a sign of the grandeur and credibility of the Islamic Iran and its revolutionary nation,” the Leader said.
"Martyrdoms, military displays of power, unparalleled presence of the people, the strong spirit and determination of the youth, alongside thousands of associations active in the field of science and technology, as well as a religious and spiritual approach prevailing among a large portion of the youth across the country, all herald the emergence of a unique phenomenon in the world — a phenomenon that can have profound and decisive effects on the future of history,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
A U.S. drone carried out an airstrike at Baghdad’s international airport early on January 3, assassinating General Soleimani, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), as well as eight other people.
Both commanders were admired by Muslim nations for eliminating the U.S.-sponsored Daesh terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.
The U.S. assassination has drawn a wave of condemnation from officials and movements throughout the world, and triggered huge public protests across the region.
Iran has warned that "harsh revenge” is waiting for the US following the strike that killed the leader of the Quds Force.
In his message, Ayatollah Khamenei further emphasized that the second phase of the Islamic Revolution, with the grace of God, should be able to bring this phenomenon to its perfection.
"In this critical quest, all hopes are pinned on knowledgeable, erudite and faithful youths, and you can be among these history-making selected few,” the Leader concluded.
In his message to the 53rd meeting of the Union of University Students Islamic Associations in Europe last January, the Leader encouraged the Iranian youth studying abroad to engage in scientific jihad (endeavor for the sake of God) aimed at boosting the nation’s self-reliance.
Meanwhile, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araqchi said the assassination of top Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani through Washington’s state terrorism would lead to the end of the U.S. presence in the region.  "Maximum_Pressure is clearly a big failure but WH hawks-understand nothing about Iran-still insist! Assassination of our heroes through U.S. state terrorism started the end of U.S. presence in region. Now juniors in DoS-too blind to see mass demonstrations-threaten another General!” Araqchi wrote in a tweet on Saturday.
