More Awards for Iranian Documentary in Bangladesh

TEHRAN (IFILM) -- Iranian documentary ‘Beloved’ has won the Best Documentary award at the 18th Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh.
Directed by Yaser Talebi, the doc is about the difficult but favorable life of an 82-year-old mother named Firouzeh who runs a unique life in the Alborz Mountains, north of Iran.
Firouzeh hikes across the rugged landscape carrying bundles of wood and keeping cattle to make a living. When she was a young girl, a marriage was arranged for her with an older man, with whom she had 11 children. Now, none of her children come to visit her and her attempts to get closer to them remain futile.
The 63-minute documentary has attended many global events and grabbed several awards including Special Jury Award at the Religion Today Film Festival in Italy, Best Cinematography Award at the Symi International Film Festival in Greece, The Special Prize at Slovenia’s Kranjska Gora International Film Festival and many more.
Since 1977, the Dhaka fest has been promoting a healthy culture in the film industry in Bangladesh with the main theme of "Better Film, Better Audience, Better Society.”
The 18th edition of the event was held on January 11-19, 2020.
