Iran Crowned Karate 1-Series A Santiago Champion

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national karate team has won the team title of the Karate 1-Series A Santiago 2020.
The Iranian karate athletes claimed five gold medals and one bronze.
Turkey came second with four gold, three silver and five bronze medals.
Italy sat in the third place with two gold medals and one silver.
Rozita Alipour beat her Serbian opponent Jovana Prekovic in the Female Kumite -61kg final and won the gold medal.
Turkey’s Merve Coban and Xiaoyan Yin from China won bronze.
Hamideh Abbasali defeated her Chinese rival Hanqi Cao in the final bout of the Female Kumite +68kg.
Meltem Hocaoglu Akyol from Turkey and Mexican Sachiko Paulina Ramos claimed bronze.
Bahman Asgari won a gold, defeating Brazilian Breno Teixeira in the final match of the Male Kumite -75kg.
Turkey’s Erman Eltemur and Yassine Sekouri from Morocco each took home a bronze medal.
Zabihollah Poorshab took a gold at the Male Kumite -84kg by defeating Turkey’s Ugur Aktas.
Kazakhstan’s Igor Chikhmarev and Chile’s Tomas Doussang each won bronze.
Sajad Ganjzadeh also won a gold medal, beating Germany’s Jonathan Horne at the Male Kumite 84+kg final.
The bronze medals in the category went to Saleh Abazari from Iran and Gogita Arkania from Georgia.
Nearly 500 athletes from 65 countries competed in Chile for the first event of the season.
