New Yorker Picks Iranian Feature as Best

TEHRAN (IFILM) -- The New Yorker has ranked Iranian feature film ‘Pig’ among the best movies of 2019.
The American magazine has listed Mani Haqiqi’s movie among the best films of 2019 along with works such as Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Irishman’ and ‘Us’ directed by Jordan Peele.
‘Pig’ narrates the story of a filmmaker named Hassan, whose loyal lead actress has left him for a better offer she has received. While suffering this loss, he learns that the famous directors have been murdered in a suspicious way which raises this question for him that why he has not been targeted by this filmmaker killer.
To add more salt to the injury, Hassan, who is now frustrated by the fact that he has not been important enough to be chased after by the killer, gets accused as the prime suspect for the murder cases.
Hassan Majouni, Leila Hatami, Leili Rashidi, Parinaz Izadyar, Ali Mosaffa and Mina Jafarzadeh are among the flick stars.
‘Pig’ has so far gone on screen at several international film events, including the 68th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) and the 5th Iranian Film Festival Cologne in Germany, as well as the 6th Cinemas d’Iran in France.
