Iran U-23 Fall Short Against Qatar in Friendly


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran U-23 football team lost to Qatar U-23 team 2-1 in a friendly match on Thursday in Doha.
 After a 1-1 draw and a 2-1 loss against Indonesia in Jakarta, Hamid Estili’s team played Qatar in its return to the country.
Iran conceded two goals in the first eight minutes and Omid Nourafkan was on target for Iran in the 16th minute.
Iran is preparing for the AFC U-23 Championship.
The team team has been drawn in Group C of the competition along with Uzbekistan, China and South Korea.
The AFC U-23 Championship will be held in Thailand from January 8 to 26 and the top three teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics men's football tournament in Japan as the AFC representatives.
