DUBAI (Dispatches) - Iran have been crowned the champions of the 2019 Dubai Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup after overpowering Russia 6-3 in the final showdown.
The Iranians got off to a flying start, taking a 2-0 lead. However, the Spaniards mounted a fightback to finish the first period on level terms. Spain even added another goal, 3 minutes into the second period, to fall ahead 3-2 but their joy was short-lived as Iran made it 4-3 by the end of the second and went on to strike twice more in the 3rd to claim the title for the 3rd time to equal the record of Russia and Brazil.
The Iranians had already won the title in 2013 and 2018 and finished runners-up in 2016.
