"The day when every soul will find present whatever good it has done; and as to whatever evil it has done it will wish there were a far distance between it and itself. Allah warns you to beware of [disobeying] Him, and Allah is most kind to [His] servants.” (Holy Qur’an 3:30)
"The Book will be set up. Then you will see the guilty apprehensive of what is in it. They will say, ‘Woe to us! What a book is this! It omits nothing, big or small, without enumerating it.’ They will find present whatever they had done, and your Lord does not wrong anyone.” (Holy Qur’an 18:49)
The message of the above mentioned words of God Almighty is loud and clear to all those who claim to be Muslims, and who in order to avoid the eternal inferno ought to be careful of their deeds in their daily life.
Every religion strives to instill in its followers the realities of the Resurrection Day and the final judgement for determining who deserved paradise and who deserves the fires of hell.
For instance, the Gospel, in which every Christian is supposed to believe, says without the least ambiguity about the quality of a person’s deeds, whether virtue or vice:
"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5:10)
Yet, despite these warnings which are meant for promotion of good and prevention of sins, how many Muslims, Christians, or for that matter the followers of other creeds, believe in their sacred scriptures and mold their deeds accordingly?
Here, in this Viewpoint Column, ordinary wrongdoers are not meant, but the cardinal sinners, such as the politicians who rule countries, have vast monetary and material resources at their disposal, and make or mar the fate of not just their own citizens but also that of other nations, as per their policies – of destruction of humanity and the environment by resorting to oppression, usurpation, hegemony, economic terrorism, sale of deadly weapons, and eagerness to indulge in war and bloodshed.
It is not difficult for the readers of this column to determine the identity of the prime criminals or super terrorists of our times who think that wealth and power have made them immune from being judged, brought before the court, convicted and punished; so there is no question of regret, admission of guilt, repentance and seeking forgiveness – both from the humans they have wronged and from God Whose Laws they routinely violate.
It is obvious that these hardened sinners have become totally oblivious of the real retribution awaiting them in afterlife.
In such a state of stupor will the "subpoenas” recently issued in Sana’a by the legal government of Yemen, jolt their conscience?
It is anybody’s guess, but anyway it was a timely action by Yemen’s High Court to issue a list summoning prominent politicians, including US President Donald Trump, Zionist Premier Netanyaho, Saudi King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz and his Heir Apparent Mohamed bin Salman (MBS), within a month before slapping a lawsuit against them over war crimes in the Arab World’s poorest nation.
A total of 124 figures have been ordered to appear in court to defend themselves of charges of war crimes, and these include Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama, former US defence secretary James Mattis, along with former British Prime ministers Theresa May and David Cameron.
Of the Yemeni criminals mentioned in the list, is Mansour Hadi, the treasonous fugitive who invited the Saudis and the Emiratis to impose a destructive war on his own country and own people, because he wanted to hold on to power even after his interim term had expired and the nation had rejected him.
Of course, the UAE Sheikhs also figure prominently on the court’s list of summons, along with Jordan’s King Abdullah and former Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.
Then there are lower-level politicians and journalists who are considered comrades-in-crimes against the people of Yemen.
The court has warned that those who refuse to appear will be tried in absentia as fugitives and duly sentenced for their part in the death so far of over a hundred thousand Yemeni men, women, and children, besides the displacement of a million-plus, and the spread of famine and epidemics endangering the survival of a country under total siege for the past four-and-a-half years by its aggressors.
Those summoned to Sana’a for trial are mocking at the list and feeling secure that Yemen’s legitimate government has no power to punish them, but kudos to the Popular Ansarallah Movement, which has endeared itself to the All-Observing Creator from Whose Grasp there is no escape for these enemies of humanity.
