Time To Teach Toronto A Lasting Lesson

By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer

It is high time that Canada, or more properly the Canadian government, should be taught a lesson.
It is a matter of regret that despite the goodwill shown by the Islamic Republic over the past four decades, has adopted an entirely slavish attitude to the US and open hostility towards Iran.
Toronto’s latest act of lawlessness was the illegal seizure and sale of Iranian properties in Canada and distribution of millions of dollars amongst Americans whom Washington considers the heirs of its citizens who allegedly lost their life in the Zionist usurped Islamic land of Palestine and Lebanon.
It is obvious that the so-called victims in the said two countries were terrorists or supporters and sympathizers of terrorists targeting the Palestinian and Lebanese Muslims.
It was indeed an open violation of international law and breaching of diplomatic norms by the government of Canada in seizing and selling two Iranian-owned buildings in Ottawa and Toronto,
Canada has gifted some $30 million worth of Iranian assets to the heirs of American terrorists, citing Iran’s support for freedom movements in Palestine and Lebanon, such as Hamas and the legendary anti-terrorist movement, Hezbollah.
The Iranian Cultural Center in Ottawa and the Center for Iranian Studies in Toronto were sold for a total amount of 28 million dollars, and in addition the families of the dead American terrorists were awarded a share of some 2.6 million dollars seized from Iran’s bank accounts.
Earlier in July 2017, a Canadian court had given an illegal verdict of confiscating Iranian assets.
It is worth noting that of late Canada has turned into a center of fraud and a safe haven for embezzlers who manage to escape justice in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iran’s Prosecutor-General Mohammad Jafar Montazeri pointed out that Mahmoud Reza Khavari, a former Iranian banker, fled to Canada after a $2.6 billion financial fraud came to light in 2011. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison and the Interpol issued a warrant for him in December 2017.
Yet the Canadian government has refused to extradite him to Iran. In addition, another culprit Marjan Sheikholeslami, who embezzling public funds in Iran in two separate cases, has also been provided safe haven in Canada.
In view of these lawlessness by the Canadian government, it is time that Toronto should be taught a lasting lesson, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is in the position of taking justified retaliatory action against a regime whose senior officials are open allies of the MKO terrorists and sworn enemies of the Iranian people.
