Abedini Wins Historic World Fencing Medal for Iran
BUDAPEST (Press TV) - Mojtaba Abedini have brought Iran’s first ever medal at the World Fencing Championships after laying his hands on bronze at the 1st day of the event.
In the men’s Sabre discipline, Abedini defeated his opponents from Japan, Tunisia, Russia and Germany to set up a semifinal meeting with 2017 world champion Andras Szatmari of Hungary. There the Iranian athlete tried his best to beat the Hungarian in the semis but lost it 15-8 to settle for bronze.
