Fear and Failure Behind UAE Retreat From Yemen

The steady withdrawal of the UAE occupation forces from Yemen, if it marks the first signs of open rift with fellow aggressor Saudi Arabia, it augurs well for the Arab world’s poorest country which for the past four-and-a-half years is under the relentless bombardment of the Riyadh-Abu Dhabi coalition, resulting in the death of almost a hundred thousand men, women, and children.
It is not a sudden change of heart or a feeling of remorse on the part of the UAE rulers – after years of wanton destruction of Yemen’s infrastructure and the merciless murder of the Yemeni people – that makes them withdraw their troops.
No, there is no such thing as Arab brotherhood, Islamic solidarity, or human compassion, in the lexicons of regimes that lack historical, religious, cultural, and geographical roots, and depend for survival on their British creators and their American godfathers.
The real reason for the Emirati withdrawal is to avoid possible destruction of their flourishing cities of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, al-Ayn and Sharjah, and the collapse of their expatriate-run economy, in case the Yemeni defenders, whose patience is running thin, decide to rain down fire from the sky through the Patriot-piercing ballistic missiles and radar-evading long distance drones.
In other words, the recent unveiling by the popular Ansarallah Movement of a wide variety of such sophisticated projectiles, along with a warning to target UAE cities, similar to what the Yemenis have wreaked upon Saudi industrial/military installations in Abha, Jizan, Najran, Yanbu’, and other places, has unnerved the Emiratis, and made them turn tail.
The Emiratis already resent the rising death toll among their forces in Yemen, in addition to the high cost of the war, even if it means angering their Saudi allies.
This means, the strategy of the Yemeni defenders in striking the Saudi-UAE coalition of cowardly aggressors on their own territory and splintering the unholy alliance appears to be working.
Recently, a package of new domestically-manufactured military hardware, including winged missiles and drones was on display in the Yemeni capital Sana’a in honour of Saleh as-Sammad, the president of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, who was martyred during a Saudi airstrike on the port city of Hodeida in April 2018.
Also on display were the long distance Sammad 3 reconnaissance drone and the Qasef 2K drone, both of which have been used with telling affect against Saudi airports, as well as the Borkan (Volcano) H-1 and H-2, which were used in a strike on the King Khalid International Airport near Riyadh, more than 800 km from Yemen’s northern border.
The announcement from the UAE came after Ansarallah leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi warned of targeting vital installations in Abu Dhabi and Dubai if the UAE continued its involvement in the war.
Another point to note is the failure of the sophisticated weaponry supplied by the US, Britain, and France, to break the resolve of the indomitable Yemeni defenders, whose own domestically manufacture means of defence, with valuable advice from friendly parties, have become more than a match for the aggressors.
Though the UAE is leaving behind some 90,000 mercenaries, mostly recruited from Sudan to carry on the dirty job of death and destruction in Yemen, observers note that these hirelings lack any motive to fight, and are expected to scatter the moment the Ansarallah chose to mount an offensive on the evacuated parts, where the local Yemeni tribes, free of the Emirati influence, are eager to mend fences with the legal national government in Sana’a, rather than support the Saudi-backed fugitive Mansour Hadi.
Now the fate of Saudi Arabia and its warmongering murderous Heir Apparent Mohamed bin Salman (MBS) is completely clear, as far as the war in Yemen is concerned. The UAE withdrawal was the worst news ever to the Wahhabi regime in Riyadh, which awaits a bitter failure.
