TEHRAN (Dispatches) – Iran suffered a dramatic defeat to Brazil and removed from 2019 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) Finals early Saturday.
Team Melli lost to the South American giant 3-2 (25-20, 25-23, 24-26, 20-25, 15-10) in Pool B in Chicago.
Milad Ebadipour had 22 points for Iran, while Ricardo Lucarelli Souza led Brazil with 16 points.
Team Iran were in high spirits and pulled level after claiming the 4th set 25-20. But the South Americans retook the initiative in the final set as they took it 15-10 to join Russia, team USA and Poland in this year's semi-finals.
