Iran Trounce Indonesia 9-1 at AFC U-20 Futsal Championship
TEHRAN (Dispatches) - Iran have won the battle for third place after a 9-1 demolition of Indonesia at the AFC U-20 Futsal Championship in the northwestern Iranian city of Tabriz.
The Iranians had clearly put their semifinal heartbreak against Japan behind them as Salar Aghapour opened the floodgates for the host nation in the third minute. Five more goals followed, for the Iranians to go into the break 6-nil up.
Indonesia, who had fallen short against Afghanistan in the other semifinal, scored once but shipped another 3 in the second period as Aghapour completed his hat trick and Iran claimed the third prize. Iran had won the title in the maiden edition of the biennial tournament in 2017.
