Best Screenplay Goes to Iran’s ‘Salamoun’ at Swiss Festival

TEHRAN (IFILM) -- Iran’s Ashkan Chavoshi has won the Best Screenplay award at the 5th edition of the Mobile Motion Film Festival (MoMo) in Switzerland.
Chavoshi received the festival’s Best Screenplay award for his movie ‘Salamoun’.
The film is an adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s story ‘The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World’.
"The waves of sea someday bring the beautiful and huge body of an old sailor called 'Salamoun' to the shore of one of the poor and remote villages in southern Iran. The magical body has a strange feature that attracts fish and women... The men remain confused about the abundance of fish and their women’s infatuation with 'Salamoun'," a synopsis for the film reads.
The film has attended several international festivals. It has also managed to receive Best Screenplay awards at various Iranian festivals.
The MoMo is a film festival for films shot on smartphones. According to the festival’s website, the MoMo "provides a level playing field for filmmakers where talent, creativity and hard work count more than budget and industry connections.”
The 5th edition of the MoMo took place on May 11-12, 2019, in the Swiss city of Zurich.
