Venezuela Emerges Stronger After Abortive US-Backed Coup

The US bid to seize power in oil-rich Venezuela ended in failure on Tuesday when mobs on the payroll of Washington after resorting to violence and spilling of blood, fled in all directions in the face of stiff resistance by the government forces and the public.
It was the most blatantly meddlesome attempt to date by the thuggish regime of Donald Trump to try to topple the legitimate government of President Nicolas Maduro.
"The empire seeks to attack and overthrow a legitimate government in a bid to enslave Venezuela,” Maduro said, adding: "I want to congratulate the Military High Command for its courage in defending peace.”
The Venezuelan generals and the vast majority of the military have pledged their loyalty to Maduro, who urged them to have nerves of steel.
Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza pointed out that the US is active behind the series of abortive plots of the past few months against the government of Venezuela by funding the self-styled "President” Juan Guaidó.
Last night, Guaido appeared in a video alongside uniformed men who he claimed were a number of military defectors, but the failure of the coup was further proof of the fact that the so-called opposition will not be able to achieve success despite being backed by the US and NATO.
The Americans are clearly frustrated and are now openly harping on flooding Venezuela with mercenaries of the notorious Blackwater gang of murderers in order to destabilize the country.
Russia and China, as well as the Islamic Republic of Iran have deplored the coup attempt, and so have a large number of world countries.
The government of Mexico has expressed concern over possible bloodshed, while Bolivian President Evo Morales has expressed his disdain for the coup attempt.
He said via twitter: "We strongly condemn the coup attempt in Venezuela performed by the right wing, which is submissive to foreign interests. [We are] confident that the courageous Bolivarian Revolution headed by Brother Nicolas Maduro, will prevail against this new attack by the empire.”
The Russians call for peace at a time when the United States, Europe and their hired Venezuelan plotters are all beating the drums of war. Russia has spent most of the last decade as a reasonable counterweight to aggression from the US and NATO.
Cuba’s President Miguel Diaz-Canel has likewise rejected the coup attempt, tweeting on Tuesday: "We reject this coup movement that seeks to fill the country with violence.”
He referred to the so-called Venezuelan opposition as "traitors” who are creating "anxiety and terror.”
He added: "Cuba stands by the legitimate government of Venezuela that is calmly and courageously facing the new coup attempt by the pro-imperialist right with the complicity of the US and lackey governments of the region.”
Even former Latin American colonial power, Spain, has deplored the US-backed coup attempt, and called for a peaceful democratic process in Venezuela.
