French Coach Renard to Direct Iran: Report

TEHRAN (Dispatches) - Current Morocco national team head coach Herve Renard has reached an agreement with Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) to take over as the new gaffer of the Iran national team, according to Iranian media.
Team Melli have been without a coach since the FFIRI decided not to renew the contract of Portuguese tactician Carlos Queiroz after the conclusion of the AFC Asian Cup 2019 in January this year.
50-year-old Renard who has coached the likes of Ivory Coast, Zambia and Angola at the international level as well as LOSC Lille at club level has emerged as the frontrunner for the Iran job.
The Iranian media report that the sources close to FFIRI president Mehdi Taj has revealed that the French coach has already agreed to take over and will be introduced as new head coach of Team Melli soon.
Renard, who currently coaches African nation Morocco, recently announced the Morocco squad for the 2019 African Cup of Nations to be held from June 21 to July 19, 2019.
