Turkey Issues More Arrest Warrants for Coup Suspects

ISTANBUL (Dispatches) – Turkish prosecutors on Tuesday issued detention warrants for at least 281 suspects over their alleged links to a group believed to mastermind a failed coup in 2016.
Police launched simultaneous operations in over 15 provinces across the country to catch the suspects on the orders of the chief public prosecutor's offices in Ankara, Istanbul and the western province of Izmir, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency.
Among those being targeted are soldiers in active service, imams, teachers, police officers and doctors, who allegedly had links to the network headed by U.S.-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen.
The Turkish government blames Gulen and his group for the coup attempt in July 2016, in which 250 people were killed, and has been pushing for his extradition.
