U.S. Slammed for Undermining Palestine ‘Peace’ Initiative

RAMALLAH (Dispatches) – Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Saeb Erekat said Wednesday that the U.S. is trying to undermine the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative and turn around it, adding that the Palestinian side will not accept such a stand.
Erekat told state-run Palestinian Voice of Palestine radio that Washington is trying to find a regional solution to solve the Palestinian question, stressing that the PLO has not authorized any party to speak on its behalf.
Erekat also added that the Palestinians, in cooperation with Arab states, will not agree to change the Arab Peace Initiative.
"The U.S. administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu adopt policy of blackmail, aid cuts, siege, killing and arrests that; a policy that is null and void," said Erekat.
The initiative was adopted by the Arab League summit in Lebanon in 2002. It calls for resolving the problems betwen the Zionist regime and the Palestinians.
It calls for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of 1967, the return of refugees, the Zionist regime’s withdrawal from the occupied Golan Heights and the south of Lebanon.
