BEIRUT (Dispatches) -- Saudi Arabia Monday denied reports that the kingdom will open its embassy in Damascus, during a news conference broadcast by the state-run Saudi Press Agency.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry attributed the reports of the embassy re-opening to a statement from Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Assaf, and deemed them "completely false” in a tweet Tuesday afternoon. The UAE and Bahrain recently re-opened their embassies in Damascus. However, Qatar's foreign minister said Monday that he saw no need to re-open an embassy in Damascus.
