Belgium Beat Netherlands to Win Hockey World Cup

NEW DELHI (AP) - Belgium have beaten the Netherlands 3-2 in a penalty shootout to win their first ever men's Hockey World Cup in India.
Both the teams failed to score in regulation time at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswsar, the capital of Odisha.
"A goalless stalemate in regulation time forced the shootout which also resulted in a 2-2 deadlock after five penalties each on Sunday night," an official of International Hockey Federation (FIH) said. "Belgium then scored the decisive goal in sudden death to script history."
For Belgium, Florent Van Aubel struck twice in the shootout while Victor Wegnez was on target once. Meanwhile, for the Netherlands Jeroen Hertzberger and Jonas de Geus scored once each.
In 2016 Belgium hockey team won the Olympics silver in Brazil.
