Syria is once again the focus of international attention, although the country has never been out of news over the past almost 8 years since the US, the illegal Zionist regime, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, Britain and France, ganged up together to try to overthrow the elected government of President Bashar al-Assad, for the simple reason Damascus is determined to follow an independent policy without bowing to the dictates of the international gangsters.
True, they destabilized Syria, destroyed its flourishing cities, especially Aleppo the largest one, devastated its economy, depopulated its towns, massacred its people, widowed its women, orphaned its children, displaced millions and drove them hundreds of thousands of them, into a stateless state across the borders of Jordan and Turkey and thence towards Europe.
The destabilizers spent hundreds of billions of dollars (which could have used for the benefit of the needy worldwide) for creating one of the gravest modern-day catastrophes, but failed to dissuade the mostly Sunni Muslim people and army of Syria from deserting the government of the popular Alawite president.
Today, thanks to Tehran’s timely response to Damascus’s urgent request for help to thwart the terrorist bid to take over the country, and the fighting prowess of Lebanon’s legendry anti-terrorist movement, the Hezbollah, along with the vital air strikes by the Russian air force, the government has retaken most of the terrorist occupied territories – the latest being the Tulul as-Safa hilly region straddling the Damascus and Suwayda provinces in the south on Saturday.
The hasty retreat of the terrorists in the face of the advancing Syrian troops has resulted in the seizure of vast quantities of US-made weapons, including poisonous gas canisters, which the dastardly Daesh was planning to use against civilians in order to lay the blame, as usual, on the government.
Washington, which in violation of the UN charter and the sovereignty of Syria, has stationed some two thousand of its troops, has been caught red-handed, despite its absurd claims to counter Daesh.
Without the least doubt, the US, as well as Saudi Arabia – whose oil wealth the Americans use for creating chaos in the Muslim World – still remain the principal backers of the subhuman species of takfiri terrorists.
There is no denying of the fact that the US is the chief culprit, which means peace will not fully return to Syria unless the Americans leave or are kicked out – many in body bags.
That day will surely come, irrespective of the so-called peace talks underway in Geneva through the UN Mediator, Staffan de Mistura, who barely conceals his bias against the government of Syria and often adopts a favourable position towards the so-called opposition, which is nothing but a bunch of mercenaries serving the Washington-Riyadh axis of evil.
Syria’s representative to the talks, Bashar Jaafari, who over the years has become a popular figure at the UN Headquarters in New York, with his political acumen, was right when during the indirect negotiations in Geneva, he turned down the demand of the other side for political transition.
His words are worth noting: A bunch of "adolescents” who thought they were appearing on a television talent show such as "Arab Idol” or "The Voice”, and were under the illusion that government would simply hand over the keys to the country.
He added: "In fact they are tools; they are mercenaries in the hands of their lords, their operators, and it seems they have not received instructions from them, except instructions to continue supporting terrorism and to create havoc in these rounds.”
As for the clumsy US claim that its uninvited troops will remain on Syrian soil as long as the government in Damascus seeks help from Iranians advisors and the popular forces or regional countries, Washington should know that Syrian-Iranian relations predate the Greco-Roman, Byzantine, and Crusader intrusion into the Levant, and will continue forever in the future, even when the world has long forgotten that a satanic power called the United States of America had tried to meddle in the Middle East.
