‘Empty View’ Wins Best Director Award at Southampton Int’l Film Festival


TEHRAN (IFILM)- Iran animation "Empty view” has received Best Director Awards from the 7th edition of Southampton International Film Festival in the UK.
The 7th annual Southampton International Film Festival recently came to a close, with the ‘Best Director Awards’ going to Iranian director Ali Zareh’s animation "Empty View”.
"Empty View” tells the story of a mother anxiously awaiting the return of her son from war. Reminiscing her son rubbing his hands together on the cold morning of his departure, she decides to knit him a pair of gloves. As the war goes on, the mother unravels the gloves and knits them all over again, repeating this process in hopes of his return.
The animation was also nominated for the Best Animated Film, Animated Screenplay, and Sound Design for Animation awards.
Since its production in 2017, "Empty View”has received many awards including Best Animation and Best Film Music from the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Van Gogh award for the Best Animation at the Amsterdam Film Festival.
Founded in 2011, the Southampton International Film Festival is a unique event where all filmmakers and film lovers can be treated like Hollywood Royalty.
The event provides an opportunity for the filmmakers to gather together and exchange ideas.
The 2018 edition of the Southampton International Film Festival was held on October 17-21, 2018.
